Today we need a responsible and sustainable approach to protecting our environment when using low cost products either by method of disposal or recycling.

Imagine a degradable film that had a controlled lifetime, from manufacture, to service life, to disposal. That had no adverse toxicological effects or by-products. A film which if exposed to sunlight or heat starts a two step process where the plastic starts to break down through oxidation into small fragments which in turn decompose into natural elements of carbon dioxide, water, biomass and minerals.

Plastek can now supply OXO-BIODEGRADABLE which is totally degradable film that is also recyclable. Proven to degrade in a landfill environment ultimately taking up less space and helping to reduce greenhouse gases. Alternatively it can be recycled pre and post consumer, prior to degradation.

Our environmental stance is one of recycling, however, it is a matter of record that nearly 80% of all household and industrial waste in this country is committed to landfill sites. Whilst this is the case we have a responsibility to try and ensure that we reduce the impact on the environment of disposing to Landfill. In other European countries they are already making households and businesses sort their waste containing polyethylene. In this country we have started to introduce the recycling of post polyethylene waste.There is no doubt that recycling will grow into playing a major part in preserving the world's resources.
